Progress

Little Caleb is making some progress on his grieving. On Monday evening, the first night he was ours, the sun starting to set, he walked over in front of the hotel window and just stood there, looking out. He didn't say anything, do anything and was fairly unresponsive overall.

Lesley decided to take Robby for a walk out in the hotel hallway (it's pretty long). He turned from the window and watched momma and big brother go out the door. As soon as the door closed, he just slowly slid down the wall to a sitting position with his knees up and his head essentially resting on them, crying hard. It was that painful cry again.

The next morning, he woke up crying at the second he realized where he was at. Lesley sometimes does the same thing after she wakes up and looks over at me, so it wasn't a huge shock to me... 8-) Just kidding, of course. kinda...

Anyway, last night as the sun started to set, little boy was at the window again and his breathing became a little heavier, not quite to the sobbing point, but not far away from it either. He eventually crawled up into the chair and just sat there, very introspective like, and picking at his fingers. He never cried, or so much as shed a tear, but you could tell he was sad. This went on for about 30 - 40 minutes, and then he came out of it, happy as could be.

This morning, after getting kicked in the side of the head by his sleeping big brother, he woke up with a huge smile on face and giving out smooches. Here he is about 20 seconds after I brushed his teeth and he went niao niao (knee-ow knee-ow, other wise know as potty #1).

Caleb was in the chair and Rob was on the bed. Note Grandma Elaine's afgan covering Robby's legs. We're trying to retrain Caleb that just because this blanket is used, it doesn't mean he has to take a nap.

Yesterday on our way back from Wal Mart (looking for swim hats...), it was snowing lightly. Caleb got really excited and tried catching them in his mouth.

Today we go on a tour of the Emperors Palace. It's 4 degrees outside so it had better be inside!

More later...
