A LOT of Feathers

De` Couch O' Love!

After we picked up the dogs from daycare (and before they fell ill), there was this snuggle-fest on the couch in the basement before supper.

Angry Hobo!

We went over to my mom's apartment one day and we took the van instead of my pick-up.  I realized when we got there that I did not grab one of my buffs that I wear because I HATE wearing a mask.  Caleb thought that this was the funniest things in the world!  LOL!

Mike Henderson Jr. High State Meet 2021

Congratulations to the Southeast Polk Jr. High track team! For the first time in the history of the school, both grades won state in the same year!! That's quite an accomplishment for both the coaches and the young men contributing to their sport!

Also, a HUGE thank you to Grinnell Community Senior High for hosting the event and all of the volunteers who made this possible.  The meet, save for one moment of the timing equipment not working correctly, went off like a well oiled machine!!  Very impressive, to say the least.

Early on...  this is our team while coach is waiting for other kids to arrive so they can begin warm-ups.  That's Caleb standing up with the black sweats and gray sweatshirt.

Our boys starting warm-ups.

Lucas is getting ready to hand off to Caleb in one of the relays.

A fairly clean hand-off and Caleb is off.

They had opened a pretty good lead shortly thereafter.

One of the kids in red has closed the gap some, but still a good sized lead.

And when the lad is done running a race, he comes over to check the schedule for when he's up next.

And to boot, we found out later in the day that the 8th grade girls team also won state!!!   Can't beat that and can't wait for next year!

A Little More Yard...

Not sure why the original dirt guy shaped the yard like he did, but I always thought that it was a bit goofy.  So my neighbor was going to have some work done by a guy we know and asked if I wanted to finally fix this after 16 years.  Turns out that I did and I'm very happy about the results!

It's some pretty good square footage that was reclaimed, but of course, that meant more work to do!  Thankfully, I have a little go-getter in Caleb and he helped me get all of the roots cut out and seeded the area as we were scheduled for rain last night and today.

We were truly having fun working so we went over and cleaned up the neighbors new bit of yard as well.

A New Plague?

Friday night, we had a huge number of these critters invade our not-so-personal space to the point where they were "clicking" off of our neighbors garage doors making an eerie noise.

The Lad Is Driving!

I took Caleb out to the Jr. High School for his first driving lesson.  We were in my truck so a bit more difficult than a regular sedan style vehicle just due to it's size and height.  But, he did great.

His second attempt at parking.  His first attempt was better but I don't have a picture of it.

The lad was a bit nervous at first, which is good, but he is an excited boy now! He's wanting to go back tomorrow!! Which is good.
