Vacation, Day 1

We made it to Apple Creek Campground today.  We left Crystal Lake, IA. this morning where our beast (Rosey the dog) is staying while we flit around Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.

We were at the Apple Creek Campground 2 years ago this week and we find ourselves here again.  2 years ago, it rained really hard right before we arrived. This year, it rained harder and harder the closer we got.

We have our campsite reserved for five nights buts after going into Green Bay for supper last night, to wait out the rain, we decided to see if the yurt was available.  Thankfully it was.

What is a yurt?  It's one of these:

Good thing it was available too because we got some torrential rains last night.  I'm not sure the tent would have held.  Brought back memories of Lesley and I camping at Mammoth Caves in Southern Kentucky and receiving over 7 inches of rain that night. Fun story, but I don't necessarily want to relive it.

  1. Interesting tidbit, I saw a quilted yurt at the AQS Show at Wells Fargo Arena last October...

    Hope it's a great trip-have fun!
