Vacation, Day 4

Day 4 has come and gone.

We drove up to Door County this morning to attend worship services at the Community Church of Fish Creek where our old pastor, Chris Leonard is now...  uh, pastoring.  It was a nice service with the door/windows open and the lake breeze blowing through.  The message he preached on was even better but not exactly what Americans on vacation want to hear.  :-)

After that, we just went driving to find somewhere to have lunch and settled on a little cafe in a small town that I cannot even recall the name of now... possibly Ephraim?  That's Biblical too, but much like stuff in the Bible that I try to recall after reading, it slips my feable mind.

Regardless, I had a delightful artichoke heart, shittake mushroom, red pepper quiche, with a side of roasted red potatoes, and link sausage.  That's about as good as you can get!  But, it got even better when I ordered this beer from the O'so Brewing company.  It's called Night Train and it pours like motor oil and looks the same.  Best beer I've had in quite a while!

After that, we walked to a park that was just behind the restaurant so the boys could play on the playground and mom and dad could collect their thoughts and plan a bit.  The boys had a blast playing "pirate ship" while we came up with a plan.

So, we headed up to Newport State Park (see the second pic below), walked on the beach, Les threw the camera into lake Michigan (well, onto the rocks with a bit of small waves coming in), and generally enjoyed the peace and quiet.

From there, we left and drove down to Ellison bluffs.  That was some cool hiking and a bit of a rough climb down to the water that seemed much better climbing back up.

From there we headed to Peninsula State park where we climbed Eagle Tower which is simply a 75 ft. high tower looking out over Green Bay.  Absolutely beautiful and one of those experiences where pictures do not do it justice.

From there, it was back to Fish Creek for the fish boil supper.  Very cool and our second one as we did the very same thing two years ago on vaca.

The best thing is, I can load pix tonight, but I'm not pushing my luck, here's a few...

Newport State park on the "beach".

This is the view that greets you once you descend the bluffs at Ellison bluffs. Very cool.

A family pic taken by a grumpy guy....

Hiking back up!
