Holiday Lights, X-Box, Exile Brewing and Brian Hoyer

Jolly Holiday Lights has become a Christmas tradition for us.  Last night we added another year to that tradition along with Aunt Molly.  Oh we went out for supper first at Exile Brewing to make a night of it so I was crazy fat and sassy driving thru the park...

It is put on every year by local Des Moines area companies and the money raised from the admission and trip thru the line to see Santa are used to support the Make A Wish Foundation.  Throughout the lighted displays as you're driving thru Des Moines Water Works park, there are banners of kids whose wishes have been granted by the Make A Wish folks.

I learned what Make A Wish was all about back when I was 16 years old and donated two of the most fun weeks of work EVER when me and my buddies worked a Haunted House in Evansdale, IA.  We went all out on our own brand of "terror" for the final young couple of season, and wouldn't you know it?  We caused the lady of the couple to soil herself.  Kind of felt a little tiny, weeny bit bad, but being 16 at the time, not too much.  :-)

Anyway...

If you have kids, are in Des Moines in the month of December, it's not a bad way to spend $20 and see the lights.

The varmints on Santa's lap.  Robby asked for a Brian Hoyer (of the Cleveland Browns) stitched jersey, and Caleb asked for an X-Box.
