Schmitz 2018 Vaca, Post 1 - Hershey Park, Part 1

Our first day that wasn't just driving!

I took off of work early on Tuesday so that we could get a long days drive in and hopefully make it to Toledo, OH and find a hotel for the night.  We had some bread, a few slices of cheese and some ham to make sandwiches along the way and minimize our stopping time.

We stopped for gas in Morris, IL,  just a bit Southwest of Chicagoland and made our sammy's there.

Back on the road we go!

We drove and drove and drove, all the while telling the boys that the further we get tonight, the less of a drive tomorrow to get to Hershey, PA.

We made it as far as Perrysburg, OH and stopped in for the night.  That's about enough driving after 8.5 hours which leaves us with about a 7 hour drive in the morning in order to get to Hershey for our ticket-time at Hershey Park around 3pm'ish.

We got up pretty early in the morning, enjoyed a pile of sausages in the continental breakfast and I headed out to gas up the vehicle and pick up my peeps at the front door.

When I went out to get the vehicle and go fill'er up with petroleum distillate, I noticed this vehicle parked almost directly behind me.  It had a Chicago Blackhawks license plate holder and an IOWA Hawkeye's sticker below the left taillight.

So after getting our driving in for the day, we finally make it to Hershey!  We're all in good spirits and ready for some chocolaty smells and tastes!

This place is crazy.  And big!  Big and Crazy!

See?  Big and Crazy!

This is the Mobile Chaos Unit on the little trolly/train ride / tour-y kind of thingy.  It was fun and corny at the same time.  It was pretty informative on how the chocolate is processed, so that was cool.

After the tour ended, we got a bite to eat (some wonderful bbq) and then made our way over to the theater for a 3D presentation that was really cool.  The talking candy on the screen actually corresponded with the audience and some other interesting things that was fascinating to the boys.  It was a funny, enjoyable story that they told too!  We also got this picture by the Reeses guitar while waiting to go in!

MMMmmmmm...  coffee drinks.

Like I said,  MMMmmmmm...  coffee drinks.

This was at the chocolate tasting where you could enter what flavors you were getting with the different kinds of chocolate.  Pretty interesting stuff!

That wraps up part 1 of our Hershey Park experience. It was a great beginning of what would be a great vacation!
