5th Grade Band Kick-off!

At the close of the 4th grade year, the students who wish to try out for 5th grade band have the opportunity to do so. Caleb has an interest in drums and as such, he tried out. 

He got placed in the percussion section and was bouncing off of the walls with excitement when he got home from school that day.

So lets fast forward to the start of his 5th grade year and what was called the 5th Grade Band Super Lesson.  It's the first night of band where they gather in the high school auditorium by instrument, and after hearing from two different band teachers, they break off into lessons for their own personal instruments.

This is the lad getting pieces of his "kit" out to learn how to set it up.  He knew how to do this already as he and his daddy did it!

Same here, but with FIERCE determination!

Here they were learning how to set the height of their instrument so they're in the most relaxed playing posture possible.

Finally getting some drumming in after learning the proper hand/wrist/shoulder and foot placement techniques.
