Canada Day 6 - A Little Field Trip & A Fish!!!

Mike and myself went on a little field trip to get out of camp for while and to see a little bit of the area.  This is at Willsvile Lookout, about a mile north of camp.  There's the Willsville Tower Trail somewhere right behind us, but we didn't find that until later after asking some locals where the trailhead was.  It wasn't well marked.

You can see the road in the upper left quadrant of the pic, and once you crest that hill and go around a few curves, you're at the corner where you turn into camp.

That was behind us.  The trail is up there somewhere.

This is where we were parked...

There's a "No Parking' sign so Mike dug a official looking pylon out of the weeds to put up behind our vessel so that we would look official!

We went way back, as far as you could go to a small...  uh, village, I guess.  It was called Bearskin Lodge and Outfitters.  Just before this, we were actually driving, on a small, very narrow, ATV trail.  I finally said, "Nope, we're backing out of here" as it was about 25 - 30 feet elevated on either side should we screw up.  Luckily, we made it out without incident and then ended up here where this pic was taken.

This was the bridge that Mike & Caleb jumped off of two years ago.  The water was too low to be doing that now, thank God!!

Cool signs at the turn-off to head back to our cabin.

"Home sweet home"!

Tied for the biggest walleye caught on the trip, weighing in at 10lbs!

The fella who cleaned the fish for us.

The parts that aren't kept are thro into the water and it's cool watching the turtles come up and eat it.  So cool, in fact, that I failed to get a picture of them!

Sunset this lovely evening!

Canada Day 5 - Groceries & Out On Lake Huron

All 4 of us went back up 'into town' to Espanola to get some groceries and some bug bite stuff called 'After Bite'.  It's supposed to help after you've been eaten to $h!+ by the bugs but I don't think it did anything but burn like hell.  Anyway, I liked the spelling of 'yogourt'.

Why did I find this funny?  Dunno.  But there was a loan Cuke laying in the crosswalk right in front of the store.

The boys restringing one of the poles that had 'bird nested'.

I won't say much more, but this is the only time that I went out on the water.  The boat was too small for my liking.  It had no backrest so it hurt my back and frankly,  I like looking at water, not being on it!  Anyway, enjoy!

Bedtime, Dang It!!!

Stevie is WAITING for me to go around that corner and head upstairs to bed!  I think it's his greatest joy in life is when he gets into our bedroom and beds down on my side of the bed.

Canada Day 4 - The Lodge & Not Much More Else

Not as many pictures today.  I think that might be a common thread until the final day with the dinner cruise.  Much more on that later.

Tuesday morning (I think...  lol) and my view out the bedroom window after icing my back, which was a bit stiff this morning.  Gotta keep that thing happy and as flexible as possible.

My bed on the bottom of the photo with the ice pack that I just spent some special time with.

Some water lilies right out in front of my favorite spot.

My favorite spot.  Just chilling, watching the sun starting to set and enjoying some Canadian beers.

And look who's coming back in from fishing!

I'm horrible...  I can't remember her name.  She is one of the two daughters of the family who owns Bay Villa Lodge.  Serena or Selena, spelling is likely kinda close...  She's a very open lesbian and I couldn't care less, but her and I bonded over music and craft beer. She's holding a can of beer from a  brewery called Collective Arts Brewing out of Hamilton Ontario, Canada.

I think this is Val.  Pretty cool and a pretty quiet lady, but I liked her shirt, "Weekend Hooker", with a fish and fishing pole on it.  That's one of her two dogs behind her.

So this was the point where the boys got back from fishing, Selena & her sister Holly came out, Val and her husband came out and suddenly the entire camp had moved picnic tables to my area and thus became the first of two nights that I don't recall the end of...
