The Final Track Meet of the 2022 Season

The 2022 boys track season was a little less than stellar this year. We had some key injuries to start with, but you can have those pretty much any year. What really sucked was that after the first track meet held in Indianola during a rare day of beautiful weather, the next 3 meets were cancelled due to weather related reasons.

We finally had a meet at Waukee Northwest, during a somewhat cold, windy, and occasionally rainy day.  Not ideal, but at least we had one!

Then last Saturday, we had the Jr. High State track meet in Ankeny.  It was a nice, hot & dry day complete with sunburns and lots of water!

So this past Thursday night,  Southeast Polk hosted our home meet and quite frankly,  I along with several other's were surprised with how many teams were there!

I sat in the bleachers for just a few minutes shy of 4 hours with the sun burning the other side (the back) of my neck and head!

Happy to say, SEP won the meet 161 - 87 (over second place) so at least we got to end the season on a high note for these lads who will be high school Freshman the next time they compete.

My pictures suck because Caleb didn't run until very late in the day and both races had him on the opposite side of the field from where we were sitting.  That's him out in the group of yellow shirts at the 45 yard line on the football field.

One of his buddies who decided the bench wasn't good enough!  lol   I took this picture since I knew Caleb would think it was funny.  He did not let me down.

And what's better?  Rob joined us for this meet and the guy in the blue shirt and hat behind Rob is Caleb's sponsor for confirmation earlier this Spring.  He showed up to support our church kids and he stayed for the whole dang thing!

The only action shot that I got.  Caleb, with his arm back, taking the baton hand-off from Abraham.

That's a wrap for sports until football season starts!
