NYC Vaca 2023 - Day 2 - Part 2, Walking, Singing Servers & the U.S.S. Intrepid Battleship

So this part of the story picks up where Josh dropped us off at the end of our 'Chariot Tour' of Central Park. It's his coffee shop that he hits up in the mornings that he does tours. He went over to shack and told the barista to give us the "favored" price. Lol.  We had no idea if they did or not, but we bid ado to Josh and off he went for his next task.

What did we do?  We each took sips of some really bitter coffee (my favorite!) and tried to get our bearings of where the heck we were going next.  But to get to where ever that was,  we had to WALK!

So lets go for a walk...

This shot was taken while waiting at the coffee stand.

Another Trump building where they're obviously trying to arrest him for his latest foray against whatever foray's the **** don't like.  I didn't even notice the dude in the red pants, but by God, there he is!

I didn't realize it growing up, but when we traveled to China in 2011, I was FASCINATED with the architecture and I still am today!

That's a cool building.

I also like stickers and I wish now that I would have taken pics of all the doorways, poles, construction fences and other places that were littered with stickers.

Every F****** crosswalk was like this with people who were slow walkers that you pass but then you get to the next light and have to wait.  The slow bastards squeak their way thru to the front of the group so you have to pass their annoying asses again on the next block.  Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

As it turns out, our destination was Ellen's Stardust Diner, and yes, those are waitresses and a waiter on the table singing.  This joint employs young hopefuls who wish to be on Broadway someday and with some of the voices that we heard, it became clear how steep the talent climb to get into Broadway productions is!!  I wasn't feeling great yet and frankly super scared about how any food might cause me to go south.  I ate a few bites off of 3 other plates and it was good food with some GREAT voices.

We hit up a NY Yankees store after breakfast.  Caleb was looking for a shirt and a possible ballcap as we're heading to a Yankees/Cubs game later tonight.  Rob had to pose with a gangsta necklace...

And then Caleb found the same chain moments later...  lol

Back to walking, this pic was taken while walking thru Hell's Kitchen. There are SOOOOOOO many songs written about places in NYC and they were all coming back to me during this vaca.  Today, I was thinking about the Rock City Angels and their song, "Boy From Hell's Kitchen". We were now heading to the Hudson River where the U.S.S. Intrepid is docked.  Why a battleship?  Well, it may have something to do with an upcoming post about the rock band KISS in NYC and a tiny little event that happened in 1996.  Which will also tie into a later post about the Brooklyn Bridge, but you'll have to come back later to see that...  and some fantastic pizza!

Just about there...

Hmmmm... dang near looks like the arse of a battleship!

Man, I love these ships!

It's a battleship gift shop!  Do they invite enemy onboard to try and make a quick buck?

The lads getting on the zero gravity thingy-ma-bob...  Getting some instructions from the good lass.

They're locked in so no turning back now!

From the camera inside the 'human dryer'.

They're fully inverted and backwards... or something...

Looks like sunset but it's not!  I'm underneath the Space Shuttle Enterprise.

Nah-na, Nah-na boo-boo!  Told you so!

The Enterprise was the first shuttle and never went into space, hence the heat sheild tiles back in that first pic that look like bathroom tiles.  This shuttle was built to be attached atop a large jet to record air measurements and scientific stuffs that would help the future crafts into space and hopefully return.

The Hudson River from the deck of Intrepid.

Men smarter than myself manned this area!

That's Robby and the links of the chain are much larger than his noggin!

And so it was! We took a bus back to our hot-a$$3d hotel so we could rest and shower, if needed (it was), before we reboarded the scum trains headed for the Bronx. The Bronx??? That may be the birthplace of a KISS guitarist...
