This was from tonight, 03/05/2021, out at Yellowbanks State Park, which I pretty much had all to myself and the critters that were about.

 

It's Official, He Can Drive On His Own

I took Rob to get his drivers license on Wednesday.  They didn't recognize our appointment and we had to jump thru some hoops, but the boy got it yesterday and is out on his own tonight meeting his girlfriends family for dinner at a Mexican restaurant.  Am I nervous?  A little, but he's a good driver, has good judgement and good logic, so he makes it easier on an old man.

 

Happy 16th Birthday to Robert!!!

Happy birthday to the boy who first made us parents!  He isn't always easy, but I bet we aren't either from his perspective.  He is certainly loved! 

The cake had those tricky candles that re-light after you blow them out.  I'm not sure by his reaction if he knew that those existed!  

Grassy Snow

Last summer, while we were on vacation, our neighbor watered our gardens for us.  When we got home, there was this very odd patch where the grass had died.  The neighbor apologized for it, which was unessacary as it was certainly not his fault.  But in the late Fall, I had a small Chinese boy looking for jobs to earn money, so I sent him out to this spot to turn over the dirt, put some grass seed down, than then sprinkle some dirt over the top to cover the seed so the birdies wouldn't eat it all.  To my surprise, it's late February and the grass is about an inch tall and in some places, growing in standing water!

 

A Boy & His Hound

Calebber had an overnight with a few buddies last night.  While it sounds like they went to be at a respectable time,  the lad whose house they were at, is an early riser who likes to get up at 6:30, so according to Caleb, that's what they did.

He came home looking tired even though he claimed not to be.  

Steve the beast, was beyond the moon to see his boy again!  These two have a connection that is crazy cool!

Interactions w/My Co-Workers

These two had a huge case of the cuddles today!!  Don't believe me?  Scroll down.

I missed a couple of shots too when my chair would creak when reaching for my phone.

Then, after the work day ended,  I had to meet a real-life co-worker at a roughly halfway point to get the on-call phone for the next two weeks.  I think this may be my new walking place for lunch as it's not too far from home and has some pretty good elevation to it.  Plus I can make a complete circle, or square.  There is an evergreen tree about in the middle of the picture, although a little higher than center.   If you squint really, really hard, you can see a bit of red on either side of the tree.  That's my truck and I was a winded boy just going up that much of a hill.  Yikes!

 

Enough Snow for One Year

This winter has seen snow on the heavier side of the average, to put it one way.  I'm another year older and on top of that, haven't been exercising like I would have in a Covid-less year, so I'm horribly out of shape and get winded easily, much less when you have to move a 14" snowfall from a driveway with a fairly large hill!!!

The big mess on this side of the driveway is where two vehicles went off of it on Superbowl Sunday.  One of Rob's buddies was the first and then some 3.5 hours later, I was the second as I didn't back up far enough and got my drivers side front tire into the rut that he had created earlier in the day.  I did not make it out and needed to get pulled out the next morning.

Tonight after work, the temps were up to lower - mid-forties so I wanted to go out and get the patio somewhat cleaned off so I can take the dogs out of the basement door during the workday.  The place where you can see where I went in head-first with the snowblower is above my knees, with the deepest of the snow being chest high on me.  The reason for this is landscaped walls that you cannot see under the snow bank.
